Description

The Third Eye wall hanging features the diamond, a motif that is integral in both Buddhism and animism. In Lao Buddhism, the diamond symbolises the ability to see the true nature of things. In animism, which is still practiced among Lao ethnic communities, the diamond connects with the spirit world.

When coming up with this design, Mrs. Noot, one of our younger Master Weavers, was inspired by a textile from our Heritage Textile Collection, a rare collection of Lao textiles featuring over 700 rare pieces. Handwoven with 100% silk at the Living Crafts Centre.
