The Tai Taeng wall hanging features a diamond Naga pattern. It conveys the story of the Naga prince protecting the lotus diamond. The legend is a Lao love story between a weaver and a Prince Naga. The Naga turned himself into a chicken and stole the beautiful weaver’s shuttle. He ran down to the river, the weaver in pursuit. He jumped, she followed and he took her to the underwater Naga world where he revealed his true form and asked for her hand in marriage. He turned a lotus flower into a diamond and they lived happily ever after. This intricate piece took more than 50 hours to weave.
