Description

Showcase your appreciation for detailed and colorful Akha embroidery with these clutches, crafted with Lanten cotton. Bright, funky colors make these cotton clutches stand out from the rest, plus each one in the collection is slightly different.

Akha communities in northern Laos’ Phongsaly Province decorate their clothing with beads and embroidery. The Akha artisans have adapted their traditional skills to create playful, contemporary clutches.

Since October 2019, in collaboration with the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF), we’ve been working with artisans from 6 different villages and 3 provinces. We help them develop ranges of handicrafts that combine craftsmanship and tradition with realistic creativity and market knowledge. Our team of weavers, dyers, designers and tailors transfer their skills to aid artisans to make a better living from handicrafts.

Made in collaboration with Akha artisans through our Village Weavers Project. The outer layer is embroidered in the villages and the clutches are tailored and assembled at our Living Crafts Centre. Learn more about the Akha.
