Description

This scarf pairs bold colours with gentle soft silk yarns. We named it “mahout”, elephant handlers who handle the majestic beasts with gentleness and love. Both mahouts and master weavers are much respected in Lao culture, for their skill, fortitude and patience.

The ikat dyed weft threads lend a look of serenity, much like you see in watercolours. Woven by our master weavers at the Living Crafts Centre. Did you know that silk yarns are naturally cooling in the summer and warming in the winter?
