Description

Lao textiles are used everyday, so finding vintage textiles in excellent condition is quite rare. This colourful vintage diamond wall hanging is woven with silk and cotton by Tai Taeng artisans.

It was originally intended to be used as a curtain or a blanket. Look closely at the pattern, and inside you will see the Prince Naga and Princess Naga embracing. Nagas are protective spirits, and they appear often in textiles across Laos.

Part of our vintage collection – regrouping special textiles from all over Laos – this purchase supports the maintenance of our museum collection. Our goal is to open a textile museum in Luang Prabang; a centre for study and inspiration.
