Akha communities in northern Laos’ Phongsaly Province decorate their clothing with beads and embroidery.
The Akha artisans have adapted their traditional skills to create playful, contemporary necklaces made with coloured beads and cotton embroidered with flower motifs. The three strands is a refernce to the traditional hat of the Akha ladies, which features multiple hanging beaded strands.
