Master dyer and master weaver Ms. Phet has been weaving at Ock Pop Tok since 2002. Ms. Phet loves playing with colours and has mastered many types of Shibori patterns. She was inspired to try the Shibori technique after a trip to the International Folk Art Market in Santa Fe, New Mexico. There we rub shoulders with, enjoy dinners together, dance under the New Mexican skies with artisans from all over the globe.
There is a group of artisans from Mali who work with indigo and shibori, and we find their work inspiring. These trips are often very inspiring for our team, and they return with new ideas to try. This is how our shibori scarf collection was born! And because nothing goes to waste at Ock Pop Tok, we use remnants of shibori silk to make our vibrant shibori necklaces.
