ock pop tok laos village weaver tai dam weaving hands - Tai Dam

Tai Dam

UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes) invited Ock Pop Tok to co-develop handicrafts in Ban Chabue, a Tai Dam village in eastern Phongsaly Province. Part of UNODC’s  mission is to eradicate opium production in Laos.
After a survey was taken it was found that handicraft production could provide a good source of income for many villages. Helping to increase cotton production in the village is one area in which we support the community.
Our team has been there numerous times to conduct trainings and members of the village have made the three day journey to Luang Prabang to work alongside the Ock Pop Tok weavers and dyers relearning forgotten techniques and learning new skills.
