Discover Lao Textiles, Explore Lao cuisine

A fascinating exploration of Lao culture and cuisine.

Spend the morning in a stunning Mekong riverside garden. Attend a workshop explaining weaving techniques and natural dyes followed by a delicious banquet of genuine Luang Prabang specialities. The morning’s program will be interactive and full of fascinating information; a unique and entertaining opportunity to learn about these important aspects of Lao culture.

The workshop starts with an engaging look at weaving culture in Laos. Renowned textile gallery OckPopTok will take you on the journey of textile production from silk worms to weaving patterns. Explore natural dyes and the many different colours available from roots, woods, seeds, flowers, leaves and insects. There is also an opportunity to try your hand at weaving, spinning and dyeing.

Lunch offers the opportunity to learn the elements of a Lao meal, and enjoy first hand their unique and aromatic flavours. Local restaurant Tamarind: A Taste of Laos, popular for their flavoursome meals based on Luang Prabang home cooking, is renowned for their commitment and passion to local cuisine. They will guide guests through a culinary journey of some of the flavours and traditions of genuine Lao food.

It’s the fascinating details that make this experience special:
