Bringing that east meets west philosophy to life in our cooking, we combine regional flavours, local ingredients and ideas from cuisines the silk road passed through. Food is an incredibly important part of Lao culture and is represented in many varied and eclectic cooking styles that one could stay here a lifetime and still find new tastes to discover. Our aim is to bring a variety of these offerings using only the freshest ingredients, sourced from our own garden, the Living Land Project and the nearby open market. Examples of our signature dishes are pork filled lemon grass, eggplant tempura bites and chicken salad infused with a medley of fresh herbs, chilies and lime. Our food plays to the palate combining flavors of hot, sour, salty and sweet in presentations that are equally pleasing to the eye.
Dining at the Silk Road Café provides an enjoyable experience against a backdrop of the mountains and Mekong River. Enjoy a late afternoon fusion cocktail with leaf wrapped canapés and don’t miss the chance to try our famous Silk Worm Poo Tea!
The café is available for private bookings and has hosted a variety of special occasions including movie nights, visiting artist exhibitions, private dinners for 2 to 200 and traditional Lao Baci ceremonies. All of this adds up to an experience not to be missed while visiting Ock Pop Tok.
